It’s been an eventful year in the ebike business, no more so than at A2B.

When we stopped and thought about everything we’ve achieved in 2013, we realised just how far we’ve come. Let us look back briefly at the main events and achievements of 2013.

A2B Brand Relaunch: Our new brand identity was presented in April 2013 in London, Munich, Los Angeles, New York and Copenhagen with resounding success. We had dealers and media representatives invited to hear our brand repositioning strategy and future plans first-hand and to see and feel our stunning new models.

The award-wining agency Marmalade on Toast, who developed the new look for us, won the much coveted industry award, the Davvy Award, (awards big achievements by small firms), in recognition of the stunning design and brand identity they created for A2B.

A2B flagship stores: In 2013 our partners opened A2B flagship stores in Seoul, Bogota, Copenhagen and Milan. This underlines once more the potential of our bikes and makes a positive contribution to building the A2B brand globally. In 2014, we will be opening flagship stores in the German-speaking countries and will be strengthening our brand awareness through shop-in-shop concepts with individual dealer outlets.

New models: this year we presented a total of six new products worldwide - four of which have already successfully launched: the Galvani Male, Galvani Female, Ferber and Shima. You may have seen the stunning new Obree and Ørsted at our shows. These models, which will be manufactured in Germany and positioned at the upper end of our product range, will be available in spring 2014.

Awards: We are particularly proud of the ExtraEnergy award we received for our Shima model. Designed for speed and to satisfy the ‘thrill-seekers, the Shima was given top place in the Lifestyle category. The award was presented in July at the ISPO Bike show in Munich, Germany.

Ride the Future: Also in July, we set ourselves the challenge of entering the Guinness Book of Records by riding across America on an ebike! Joining forces with an e-vehicle movement, ‘Ride the Future’ – our rider Ben Hopkins cycled an incredible 4,396 miles across several types of terrain, riding from the east coast through 44 cities to San Francisco. Ben rode the Shima and the Alva+ (which features the much loved throttle). Along with the other e-vehicles (ebikes, e-scooters and e-motorcycles) the ‘Ride the Future’ tour proved that switching from gas to electric powered vehicles was not only a realistic but also an economical, modern-day alternative mode of transport.
