Why walk when you can ride - Brisbane

Brisbane has joined Australia's popular electric bike scene, with Electric Bikes Brisbane launching an Electric Bike hire service in time for summer.

Tourists and locals can now explore the city and its bike trails without raising a sweat - the pedal-assist A2B electric bike does all the hard work.

Electric Bikes Brisbane owners Nick and Samantha Willis have run a speciality electric bike business in the city for 18 months and expanded to include a hire service after receiving numerous requests.

"We started to explore hiring the bikes after getting more and more enquiries and we thought not only is it a great way to try before you buy, but it adds another dimension to the city's sightseeing experience," Mrs Willis said.

“Brisbane is a very hilly, hot city but electric bikes feel like you've got the wind behind you – even when you’re going uphill. Brisbane has lots of interesting streets and attractions that people can see in a few hours on an electric bike - more than they will ever see in a few days.

"People can cruise through the city's cycle paths, take in the leafy parks, coolest wine bars and restaurants and explore the interesting side streets, shops and markets.

"We already work closely with the Brisbane City Council's Cycling Brisbane program and Bicycle Queensland to help promote cycling as an alternative to driving a car, so if people have been thinking about it and want to try an electric bike for themselves, they will now be able to."

To celebrate the launch of A2B electric bike hire in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, A2B is giving away a $2800 Ferber bike, widely acclaimed as being at the forefront of e-bike innovation and design across the world.

Simply snap a selfie and you could win an A2B bike boasting the latest technology, award winning design and comfort, easily rechargeable battery and top quality manufacturing.

A2B was the pioneer of electric bikes across the world, building the first true electric bike with an internal motor system in 2008, after five years of research and design and recognised industry-wide for its leading design, technology and engineering.

To take part in the #A2Bselfie competition – hire a bike, take a selfie and post it on Twitter with the #A2Bselfie hashtag.

Notes to Editors

A2B is the German designed and engineered, award winning premium e-bike brand.  Headquartered in London with subsidiaries in the UK, USA and Germany and present in more than 30 countries through its network of distributors in Europe, Asia, America and Africa.

A2B provides a premium range of e-bikes that have been extensively researched and painstakingly designed since 2003. In 2008, A2B revolutionised the electric bike market with the launch of the world’s first true e-bike – a premium electric bike called the Metro that was designed specifically for power and not simply a normal bicycle with a battery added.

We are proud that our e-bikes have been recognised by prestigious organisations such as ExtraEnergy.com, the German-based worldwide LEV testing authority and the British Design Museum in London, which nominated the Obree for the international Designs of the Year Award in March 2014.

A2B has played a vital role in setting industry standards as co-founder of the British Electric Bicycle Association, now recognised as the voice of the industry in the UK. In many markets A2B has been the first premium e-bike brand, if not the first e-bike brand.

A2B is part of the Hero Eco group.
